Noun

Specifically, a noun is the name of a person, thing, place, or idea that can be known by its name so we call it a noun. Here are some examples, Faraz (name of person), Karachi (name of place), and Laptop (thing). There are several examples you can see in our daily life, use mind and write more nouns on your copy.

Identify the noun in the sentence: “People from all over Pakistan visit Kashmir every year.” In this sentence, the words “Pakistan” and “Kashmir” are nouns of places so we called this is noun.

Pronoun

Pronoun use instead of a noun in a sentence when a noun is repeatedly used to refer to a place, ideas, things, or people. Below are the types of pronouns you can understand.

Types of pronouns:

Prounouns	Examples
Personal Pronouns	She can do it.
Reflexive Prounouns	We will do it ourselves.
Indefinite Pronouns	He is honest in this class.
Demonstrative Pronouns	Only a few people pass the CSS exam
Relative Pronouns	I already said that she can not complete this task
Interrogative Pronouns	Whom do you want to meet tomorrow?
Reciprocal Pronouns	They will distribute each other.

But there are two more conditions for a pronoun, Subjective and Objective Pronouns. You can learn here with examples:

Subject Pronoun: I, we, you, he, she, it, and they. These subjects are called subject pronouns to use instead of nouns in sentences. Example: Shahid is more handsome than Ali, we use a pronoun here like, he is more attractive than Ali. In this sentence, we replaced “Shahid” with “He”.

Object Pronoun: Object pronouns play an important role in English grammar, the object pronoun is used at the end of a sentence like, They will travel with them tomorrow.

Verb

The Verb is used to express an action and or statement in a sentence, it is used after the subject in the sentence. It looks like He is reading English Literature’s book right now. In this sentence, the “reading” word is used as a verb to show what he does.

Understand the sentence structure of Verb: Subject+Verb+Object, for example, He watches Bollywood movies every Sunday.

Adverb

Adverbs express more verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs in the sentence. Read examples here, Ali is the only student in class who reads English fast. In this sentence, the fast is used to tell more about Ali.

Adjective

Adjectives describe the noun in the sentence, they tell the quantity or quality of the noun, in simple words you can say “Adjectives modify the noun”. Here are some examples:

There are also two degrees of adjective: Superlative and Comparative degrees, and the use of these degrees is different.

Preposition

Prepositions are used in every sentence to express relate between two sentences, nouns, or pronouns. According to the Oxford Dictionary, “Preposition is a word to use before noun and pronoun in the sentence.

Here are prepositions examples:

(At, On, In) The prepositions used for place, time, position, and method, there are various types of prepositions.

Preposition of Location: Use to tell the place of a particular person or object.

Example:

1. My grandfather will arrive at Karachi Airport on Sunday.
2. Sham and his brother are resided in Karachi for two years.

Preposition of Direction: It tells about the direction of any person or thing from one place to another place.

Example:

1. Naseem lives across the bridge.
2. He jumped into the river to save his sister.
3. When Naveen will return from Lahore?

Preposition of Place: Use to tell about that place or any position of something.

Examples:

1. She is waiting in front of Bollywood Mall, Hyderabad.
2. There are reasons behind his death.

A preposition of time is used to indicate when something happened or will happen. For example, we can use “in” to talk about the future, like “I’m going on vacation in March.” Or we can use “on” to talk about specific days, like “I go to work on Mondays.” There are many different prepositions of time and they’re a helpful tool for expressing when events occur.

Interjection

In simple words, interjections express feelings rather than meaning like, hurrah!, Wow!, Oh! and more.

Examples:

1. Hurrah! India won the T20 World Cup in 2024.
2. Wow, that’s a great car.
3. Oh no! I left my wallet at home.

Conjunction

Conjunctions are words that are used to connect sentences, phrases, or clauses. Here are some examples:

1. I want to go shopping center but I do not have a car.
2. She left school because her father couldn’t pay school fees.
3. Asif complete this task as soon as possible.
